I spoke to Victoria Furness from Revolution magazine about an article on regulation which has been published in the December issue. You can read the magazine for free online. I think it’s a well written and balanced article but it would be good to get other people’s point of view.

I hope my comment on the IAB’s Affiliate Council doesn’t sound too critical. The point I was trying to make is that I don’t think the first item on the IAB’s agenda is going to be ensuring that affiliates are protected from commission being dropped with no notice or 0% commission products etc. I do think they are doing a good job and out of all the attempts to get some kind of group together on this issue they are making the most progress it’s just that obviously they will be working in their members interests at first and until affiliates take up the invite to get involved there won’t be a good balance. It’s great to see them the joining the a4u forum and taking part in discussion there so hopefully that will help the affiliate voice.

The other main issue I have with regulation is that in the T’s & C’s of all the networks there are already guidelines which should be enforced and at times I’m not sure all networks care about best practice as much as they would like us to think they do!
