dgmPro messaging and affiliate communication

DGM recently launched their internal messaging centre as mentioned by Adrian Moss in the podcast interview.

dgm messaging

It allows merchants to send internal messages to affiliates and then affiliates can respond however at this stage affiliates can’t initiate contact which seems a bit strange but I know is under review at the moment. There is also a bulletin board feature for each program but this doesn’t seem to have taken off yet however it could be useful too for keeping all the information about a program in one place. I can definitely see the point in trying new ways to communicate and an audit trail of communication would be a useful resource.

As affiliates (well this affiliate anyway!) get more and more swamped by email what do you think of the dgm style of communication? How do you want networks and merchants to communicate with you?

I know many affiliates are still comfortable with email, but I really do think these sorts of communication platforms are increasingly going to become the standard for network/merchant to affiliate communication for a number of reasons.

Now imagine if a merchant or network took this same basic setup and applied a technology like Twitter for communication…

Thank you for informing us of that Fraser. I think this is a positive move by DGM and glad the network is on the up again. DGM seems to be finally getting its act together and, with some great staff, I’m sure 2007 is going to be a good year for them.

I have only just quicky glanced at it after reading your blog entry. Looking at option to filter messages by category, they seem to have left out PPC / Keyword policy changes. Considering this is a sensitive area with most networks, you would have thought that this would have been one of them, as proof that an affiliate has received communication. At least for now two bases are covered in the sense that if a normal email is not received, then the internal message centre will have a copy. I will have to have a look at how expansive it is. But yes indeed it is a postive step.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Sam - sorry your comment was delayed, I just dug it out of the akismet spam. I really need to figure something out to keep it all under control but avoid these false positives :(

I still don’t really get Twitter though and I’m struggling to see past the novelty of it. Do you receive your messages to your mobile phone or handle them some other way?
