Just found this and noticed the recent comment.

Quick overview of what has happened:

Things have got more and more real.
The group now has almost 50 fulltime staff, excluding outsourced staff.
Carrentals.co.uk is still growing at pace and has now opened sites in US, Oz and about to launch in Europe.
We launched http://www.discountvouchers.co.uk 15 months ago and now have over 3 million people on our newsletter.

Two weeks ago I announced I would be stepping back from the business to focus on other things. As yet nothing is formalised but that will happen in the New Year. The guys and girl no longer need a guy who is good at startups:) but now need to people who can grow the group into a real business, some would argue that with annual affiliate sales of over £100 million this year we are a real business:)

Paul – wordpress is pretty easy to get going. Just download from wordpress.org or if you want them to host it then take a look at wordpress.com but you won’t get the same control.

Excellent podcast, the best I have heard Fraser.

No flannel or cliquey talk* – real discussion on the nuts and bolts of the business. Hey you even use the ‘P word’.

* PS When you drop various first names into conversations many people will have no idea who you are talking about, and it does make the whole thing sound a little like a small club. (Perhaps it is!)

Really interesting podcast. I like the start where we get a comment list of the different places Doug acted as a bum in.

Definitely agree with the comments about the domain names, difficult to get people to catch on to short, sharp domain name than a “personalized” domain name. I also completely agree with the “giving up is easy” part.
These days (affiliates in particular) give up straight away just because money doesn’t land in their laps, the hard working affiliates get all the rewards, simple as that.
