Email Marketing - I’m late to the party

I’ve never really tried hard to gather email addresses but yesterday was an eye opener. I promote a very specialist product which is pretty low volume in Google searches so I have been very slowly gathering email addresses and yesterday there was a price reduction so I thought it was time to send out the first mailing.

I got a 43% open rate, 42% of them clicked through and 66% of them actually bought something.

All in all those are great percentages and I was amazed how well a very targetted email on a very specific product paid off.

Unfortunately the downside is that I only have 33 people on that list. So that means 14 of them opened the email, 6 of them clicked through and 4 of them bought something. In the end though I made £65 from sending out one mailing so it’s not a huge amount but it’s a great return on a list of 33 people.

Time now to try and scale up that mailing list and see what other lists I can start to build.

That’s a pretty good percentage there! It’s things like this that reminds me to start spending more time building up my list and monetizing it.

Amazing percentages really. Just keep up the good work. You will get there.

I just added an RSS email feed sign up. So, I’m even further behind than you *grins* So, don’t feel bad!

Welcome to the party, actually I have to say your results all be it from a small sample are very good. I been doing it for a while, and certainly not an expert in that area.. but has worked well for what we done, but it has steadily got worse over the years… I guess as spam grows your message gets hidden in amongst it all / blocked etc.
