Getting Back In The Groove
Happy New Year! So I’ve had a bit of an extended Christmas break due to a couple of weeks of planned holiday followed by a week of looking after an ill baby
but now it’s time to get back to work and in January that’s sometimes a bit tricky to find the motivation but I have a couple of new ideas that I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into.
However more than just wanting to get back to work on my own affiliate stuff I want to kick start the blog and podcast again as it got pretty quiet in the last quarter of 2007 apart from a great podcast with John Lamerton and the modcast. Like many others recently I’ve also got hold of a bit more video equipment so I hope to put that to use soon too.
With all that in mind I want to remind myself of what I’m supposed to be writing, podcasting, video blogging about and that’s where I need help from my valued readers & listeners.
What sort of stuff do you want to hear about? Is it how to make money online? Is it more comment about the affiliate marketing industry? social media? All of the above? I know that the audience is a real mixture from friends who know nothing about affiliate marketing to affiliates with years more experience than me so I’m looking for some input from everyone about what you want to know about affiliate marketing in 2008.
Who would you like to hear on a podcast this year? Is the one-on-one interview format better or do you prefer the group discussion like in the modcast? Any other podcast comments or feedback? Anyone interested in taking part?
Any interest in video? Don’t worry that would be more likely to be screencasts and interviews of others than me sitting in my office
All comments are gratefully received and best wishes to you all for 2008

Welcome back Fraser. Things are a bit mental for me at the moment but ping me a little further down the line and I’ll happily put my name down for something.
Cheers

A friend of mine back in the States is looking to rework his personal blog at http://andrewseely.com/ in order to bring on a bit of money and reach a wider audience than he is now. He’s an aspiring youth minister and writes about his personal experiences and the church in general. He’s running a few google ads but I don’t think they’ve really done much for him. I don’t really know if that sort of thing is in your field of specialization, but if it is, any ideas?

Hi Fraser,
I recently started as an affiliate manager and therefore responsible for our inhouse affiliate program. I follow your Podcast and would love to hear from affiliates what things they expect from merchants in terms like tools, services, pay-out etc.
Also if you have any tips of literature, blogs or podcast that I could read/follow that will be much appriciated.
Kind regards,
Ralph Remkes

I’ve been working through your podcasts and they are a great listen.
New podcast ideas… Perhaps outside of the UK on affiliate marketing … Maybe an interbiew with Kris at Pepperjam (USA) or Markus Tandler at Mediadonis (Germany). They were great speakers at A4UExpo.
Look forward to hearing more of your podcasts during 2008 !
Regards
Steve
P.S Don’t forget to update your “Thank You and Happy Christmas” footer tag on your blog

Paul - thanks, I look forward to welcoming you to a podcast soon!
Matt - I’ll take a look when I get 5 minutes and drop you a line. Good to see you yesterday.
Ralph - thanks for your feedback, I’ll see if I can setup something to cover what affiliates want.
Steve - thanks for the suggestions. I’ll see if I can follow up with some of them. p.s. “Thank You and Happy Christmas” is just the name of the previous post and not a footer. I see how it looks like that though!
Any more suggestions out there?

Nice to see you back Fraser, sorry to hear your baby was ill.
If you fancy doing a podcast about discount codes sites - which seems to be everyone’s hate object ATM - I’d be up for that and I’m sure we can press gang Frostie, Ray, Keith and Barry too, maybe one of your roundtable type productions?

Sure I’m up for a discount codes round table not in the same league in that area as the others mentioned though.

Hi Fraser,
I think that every AM blog tends to cover things from a slightly different angle.
Personally I find that Kirsty’s blog is excellent for Beginner affiliate tips, Lee’s is great for Social media, Keiran tends to have more breaking news etc. I find that when I come here It’s often because i’m looking for general commentry on the Industry - this is what I think you do best.
Oh, and the podcasts!

for ralph, what people want is speedy respone from the affiliate company, in terms of applications to join, payment, longer cookie lengths, and no weasling out of paying people.
