It is strange when affiliate began to search for information on how to start affiliate business, after they had registered to some affiliate program. they should get that kind of information from the program it self.
but very thanks to you, you are very helpful.

I'm new to affiliate marketing, so anything free is a breath of fresh air; I'm tired of purchasing product after product, without being given any solid answer or lead/direction. I'm still perplexed by that, why almost all the products the top affiliates sell ambiguous, broad and general in dimension.

Thanks for the comments guys - just uploaded another podcast now.

Damon - have you considered taking a look at some of the other networks like Paid on Results or Affiliate Future. I think their set up costs are much smaller than CJ or linkshare.

An excellent podcast once again Fraser - many thanks! I don't suppose you could give future advice on affiliate marketing for merchants. As a small online retailer many of the offerings from the likes of CJ and Linkshare prove to be far to costly in setting up. Can you offer any food for thought on this topic?

Hi,

Great advice Fraser, the simple sites and niche sites always seem to be the best.

At the very least people can always build hobby sites and promote something on it, even if there is not a specific merchant selling those products, as I'm sure there is always a book that you can promote or review on your site through the Amazon program.

Thanks for the great podcast Fraser, I am really looking forward to hearing the rest of the series. Very wise words about choosing a niche you have interest in. I've tried creating a site on a high payout subject that wasn't really of interest to me and it just didn't work out.

Fraser,

Thanks for the Podcast. Really enjoying listening to your podcasts over the last couple of months. I've been dabbling on the fringes of creating a website / affiliate marketing for a couple of months now.

Strangely enough I got started by listening to podcasts created on the other side of the pond first - webmaster radio stuff (Jeremy Palmer, Shoemoney, and some others).

I only recently discovered that there's a big Affiliate Marketing scene in the UK too, thanks to your podcast / blog and the other UK 'affiliate scene' bloggers - keep up the good work, it's an invaluable resource for newbies like me trying to make a start.

Thanks,
Neil

It was a nice podcast. When you do what you love, people will feel it. It gets even better if you are a real expert.

Great podcast Fraser. Looking forward to the next part. I think your points about not chasing the highest commissions and concentrating on a topic you are interested in are really important ones to remember. Breaking into AM from a very specific angle that you enjoy, that's searched for, but not too competitive already, really is the only way without a lot of pre-existing PPC knowledge imho. The 'shelf life' of the site's content and the maintenance that will be needed is something that could be factored in a bit more by potential affiliates, before they launch into their site. The simple electrical jobs is a good example - content that 'adds value' to the web, but can be left alone and will still be relevant 12 months down the line.
