Cheers Kieron

Jesse - thanks for the comment :) definitely don't give up on affiliate marketing, just keep at it and you will get there in the end.

Jason - I'll keep hassling Paul ;) I think you make some great points about cashback.

Nadeem - you are right about the lack of new affiliates managing to do well and it's good to see you provinging information to help

Stephen - glad you have discovered the podcasts and find them useful. I'm going to put out some information for those new to affiliate marketing soon.

Peter - bumpzee has been great for finding affiliate blogs for me too. Glad you ended up finding mine :)

Hello Fraser, I just discovered your blog via BUMPzee, and I downloaded this podcast to check it out and it was entertaining and informative. I enjoyed the comments on ASOS - I was also astonished at the CEO's comments. I am wondering how they are going to reintroduce their affiliate marketing program and actually succeed.

I recently discovered your podcasts and just wanted to say that I find them very useful indeed. As someone who has been running several website for some time but has only recently started to try and monetise and promote them I find this sort of interview very useful indeed.

As you said you were looking for feedback I would say for me personally, any interview question / answers that can specifically help those who are fairly new to affiliate marketing and/or site promotion would be really useful.

Great podcast. Enjoyed this one.

Interesting and valid points by Jason on the dominance of cashback and PPC. A big big danger I've been going on about for ages is the lack of fresh blood in the industry and, unless new affiliates continue entering the arena and have the opportunities to make a decent income, it could be dangerous for the industry in the medium term.

Another excellent podcast and great that you've finally got Matt to take part. Surely it must be time for Paul to get interviewed?

The comment I found most intriguing in the interview was the "40% of a network's revenue comes through loyalty/cashback". Whilst that's great for those involved in that aspect of AM, could it also be the reason why it's hard for new affiliates to get established?

If the two main areas of AM are PPC (mainly big cash super affiliates?) & Loyalty (hard to become a competitor imo), that leaves a limited amount of space for SEO, content and email marketing - which perhaps doesn't have the growth potential compared to PPC/Cashback (i.e. SEO space is limited to a point, email marketing is saturated, new sites are hard to get established).

If new affiliates realised that the slice of pie they're after isn't as big as it initially appears, would that encourage more to work differently? work harder? or walk away?

Do you also think that if PPC/Loyalty dominate affiliate revenues, that EPC figures/hot merchants are other "good program" indicators should be adjusted accordingly?

(Sorry, I've written a mini-series).

[...] 40% Of Affiliate Revenue From Cashback Matt Wood, head of Existem and the founder of A4UForum, features in the latest podcast from Affiliate Blog and if you have some time handy during the day have a listen. Matt and Fraser discuss various aspects of affiliate marketing and how things have developed, but one thing stood out during the chat - and that cashback/loyalty sites accounted for 40% of sales on one (unnamed) network, and that that percentage was higher than PPC.
