Thank You & Happy Christmas

One of my last blogs posts of the year is a chance to thank those merchants & networks that send Christmas gifts & cards. In some ways it’s a small thing but it really does mean I feel more loyalty towards these companies and it marks them out as the “good guys” that I should be trying to work with more next year.

One of my larger merchants that I sent almost £500,000 of sales to this year hasn’t even sent me a happy Christmas email and again it’s strange how that changes the way I feel about working with them next year. It’s also interesting that my adwords spend didn’t manage to earn me a Christmas present from Google this year although I’ve had something in previous years.

Anyway, on to the Thank You’s!

  • Thanks to Graham & everyone at Buyagift for the 6 bottles of Bollinger - unfortunately there are only 5 left ;)
  • Thanks to Clarke & all at Paid On Results for the very fancy bottle of Jack Daniels
  • Thanks to Matthew & the folks at Existem for the bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne
  • Thanks to Sarah at Books Direct for a fantastic pile of holiday reading! I really love books so this was a great gift.
  • Thanks to All at Affilinet for the lovely hamper.

So it’s time now to think about finishing up for Christmas and I’m about to head out on my work Christmas lunch. That’s right my company secretary (& wife!) are heading out for turkey and all the trimmings!

Happy Christmas to everyone and best wishes for 2008 :)

Hi Fraser

Maybe not receiving a gift from google(adwords)isn’t such a bad thing?

Thanks for the link.

Merry Christmas.

Hi John

It might be a good thing if I hadn’t spent around double last years adwords spend! :-)

Richard - thanks for your comments. I’m glad it provides some motivation but most of all it’s a reminder to work with the people who really value their affiliates.

David Airey - Thanks for your Christmas wishes. Hope you had a good one and all the best for 2008. I saw your photo in the Evening News. It’s amazing how you have been able to get such a benefit from 2 potentially damaging incidents in 2007 :-)

David Bain - sure, that sounds like a plan. Will drop you an email soon.

Dan - thanks for the comment. do let me know if you are looking for tips and info about any particular areas.

I agree with your post. I was lucky enough to receive 5 hampers and a variety of other products too. Having said that, my main merchant, to whom I sent over £450k of sales to, didn’t even send me a crimbo card… I wonder if its the same one?

I’m like you, in the fact that I wonder whether to work with them next year proactively, or simply let things tick over with no further effort on my behalf. Be interested in what you decision was/is

Google - you can have mine ;)

Also, count yourself lucky you received something from Existem, I received zip! It may, however, have something to do with me commenting on Matts much loved crocodile shoes and of course the A4U Video may not have helped ;)

Chris - it is really strange how much it effects your desire to work with a merchant isn’t it. It’s not like I want to give up on the commission I earned from them last year but it does make me feel like it’s not valued and I haven’t made a difference to them. However based on public turnover figures I think my £500k was only 0.2% of their business so perhaps I really don’t matter at all anyway!

As for Existem, I think the gift was for being a forum mod and deleting spam all year round but keeping quiet about the crocodile shoes probably helped too ;)
