Carey & Matt - Sorry for the delay but just to say thanks for your comments. It really helps to know people are listening to and enjoying the podcast.

Matt - I know exactly what you mean about nappies & feeds taking away from blogging time :)

This is a great blog, keep up the good work. I echo the people above, we do have time to read and listen.

I too am in a similar situation (see the latest posts on my blog!) I have become a parent, perhaps naively I thought that give it a couple of weeks and things will return to normal, but I now have more important things to do with my time... feeds, feeds, feeds oh and nappies of course!!!

On a similar point, something that I have mused about on my blog recently is do people appreciate the time that we affiliates invest? My musings were aimed at merchants who seem less than willing to put in an equal amount of effort into their programs as we invest in promoting them? Indeed do people appreciate the time investment in a site such as this? I know I do as I try to blog myself.

Hope you pick it up soon, I think you underestimate how many people do find your podcast useful.

I am new to the affiliate arena and have found it invaluable listening to the interviews and advice in my car and I can't find anything else podcast wise.

It is sometimes a thankless task so... thank you for doing the podcast!

Thanks for all the comments guys :)

Lee - sorry for the dig, couldn't resist. I guess it's better to have too much work than not enough. Or so they say....

Edward - glad you are enjoying the podcasts

Nadeem - thanks for the encouragement. You are right though that there isn't always a decent ROI on content creation.

Shane - thanks for setting our little spamming friend straight.

Kathy - great to hear from you again and glad you are still subscribed! Hope things are going well for you :)

Duncan - cheers for the comments. Didn't realise I had a voice for Radio 4, I'll have to see if they want to talk about affiliate marketing ;) I'll experiment with shorter shows when it suits and we can see how it works out

Gotta agree with Nadeem, whilst I've only listened to a few of your podcasts they've all been quality. I can certainly appreciate how much work must go into them. I don't get around the blogs as much as I'd like and rarely listen to podcasts so forgive me for thinking you're the only one producing regular shows dedicated to the uk industry?

I think a 10 minute show would work equally well if not better. 40 minutes is a long time to concentrate what with so many other distractions during the day.

Oh, anyone ever told you that you have a radio 4 voice?! Good luck with the wee one.

You certainly got my attention with the name of your post. lol :) Said to self: Oooooh no... he's gonna stop his podcasts:(:(

Have to admit I'm one of them busy ones and haven't had time to listen lol am in the process of taking someone's advice and learning to manage my time better. lol :) umm we'll see if it works. :) Am gonna have to just get my headphones on that little head of mine and listen while I work. lol :)

Perfectly understand your prioritizing your time now and must be awfully hard to concentrate with the little cutie right in front of ya. :) Please don't give up on your podcasts, tho :)
Shorten em up a bit, maybe not as often, just don't stop em completely. Really do enjoy them.:)

And...definitely haven't unsubscribed. Still have the rss thingie staring me in the face each day, just will have to visit here more. :)

"when the visitor clicks on the affiliate website through your website then, you will be earning your commission"

if only that were the case lol...

It's NOT ..sadly (unless you have a pay per click feed), as when the visitor clicks on the affiliate website then you'll be getting clicks only .. the visitor has to buy/apply/ sign up etc. before you are earning as an affiliate and even then that's assuming that the transaction actually tracks .. which seems to be a hit and miss thing.

love the simplistic overview by mr "affiliate marketing" - aka http://blpurl.com/bp00 which redirects to http://www.bigmoneypro.com/index2.php?siteId=23 ... oooh.. a quality progam by the looks of it .. ..

his insightful overview is bit like saying.. you can make money on shares.. just buy low, sell high.. it's easy ! like duh

Anybody can make money online today. One of the simplest ways perhaps is to make money online through affiliate marketing. If you have a website, you can list other people's websites on yours and become an affiliate, when the visitor clicks on the affiliate website through your website then, you will be earning your commission.

"I wonder if people are too busy to listen as well?"

Certainly not... have listened to every one of your podcasts and they are the best thing in the business. And I know other people find them engrossing.

"think I’ll look to restart with a much shorter format soon, probably just a 10 minute show"

I fully understand the reasoning behind that, but it would be a pity. It's hard to go into detail in a 10 minute conversation and many of us need something more meaty than 'an introduction to...' stuff, as we know the basics.

"It takes the best part of a day to setup, record, edit & publish a podcast"

I don't think people appreciate how much work goes into something as professionally done as your excellent podcasts.

It would be a pity if you were not able to do your podcasts, but I fully understand. I probably appreciate it more than most, because I know how much work goes into creating content. For example, I wrote one book review recently ( http://www.azam.info/overwork-culture-uk-usa/ ) and it took me about 20 hours to read the book, make notes, carry out research, script the review, edit it, get pics, add everything to Wordpress and format it. And the ROI? I didn't even sell one copy of the book through the affiliate links.

It's a pity when people expect things for free nowadays.

I hope you'll be able to work out a solution, so that you can continue your podcasts and still make it worth your while. I'll certainly recommend networks, agencies, merchants sponsor your blog.

cheeky ;-)

Yes I've been absolutely manic too. My little baby is in fact an agency that I manage the online marketing for. It's taking up loads of time and I have too seen my blog suffer - as well as my social life!

Hopefully, you'll get your rhythm back soon! Affiliate marketing is a lesser place without your sage views!

I wouldnt go down the guest post route. To me, it's a useless contribution. If the GUEST has anything worth saying, then I would suspect they would publish it on their own blog.

If a guest does post, then I often ask whether they are publishing for publishing's sake.

Anyway, will be sure to catch you at the Awards and Expo for good old chin wag. Bring some pies!

Thanks David - great to hear you are still interested. I think I've happened to meet too many people recently who told me they haven't had time to listen for a while!

Chris - yeah she's a lovely addition to the desktop :)

That's a fair point about only publishing something when there is something worth saying. I thought about inviting guest posts but that might take things the wrong way unless I was careful to only get the right people involved.

Look forward to catching up soon as I'm planning to be at the awards and the expo - I'll be the one that goes back to the hotel at 8pm for a full night of sleep in a quiet room ;)

Chris – yeah she’s a lovely addition to the desktop

Hey mate - thats a cracking setup you go going there :D

I hear what you're saying about the amount of time it takes you and having to prioritise making money over making podcasts. They have been extremely informative and real eye opener and if you choose to stop them completely, it's a shame but understandable.

As for unsubscribing, personally I would prefer that a blog only publishes when it has something useful to say. Many blogs publish for the sake of publishing which makes me switch off immediately.

Anyway, continue to enjoy the sleepless nights ;) Catch up with soon hopefully (if you are allowed to the A4U Awards or Expo).

"I wonder if people are too busy to listen as well?"

Nope! Your podcasts are informative and suited to all levels of affiliate marketing in the UK.
