The only problem with my bumpzee desktop widget is that it doesn't update very often. How about you Scott - mine only seems to update when I first start the computer? :(

whoa very cool desktop widget. I just made one for OS X using Amnesty.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of desktop widgets, or desktop anything for that matter.
I never see my desktop beneath the three dozen windows I always seem to have going.

I don't consider myself the average PC user, though. I'm guessing that our target user has much simpler computing habits. If I watch my mother and daughter use Windows, they seem to close windows before moving on to something else.

>> recycling what I’ve been learning from Cost Per News

>> i’ve switched to ubuntu instead.

The influence of Sam Harrelson is overwhelming in this post. ;-)

I've been playing with Vista for a number of months now, and am waiting for my official release to drop on my door mat anyday. I think with all new versions, it takes a good couple of weeks to bed in and for the user to get used to the new way of working.

I do however like the idea of adding Bumpzee widgets to the side of the desktop. I think they will start off as a gimmick, but given time they will become a necessity. A widget that extracts network data for realtime balances would be nice!

As I mentioned on my site, I got sick of Windows XP and instead of doing a re-install and putting Vista on, i've switched to ubuntu instead.

One of the best decisions i've made - very easy to install, easy to use, loads of open souce applications that work perfectly and extremely user friendly.

The widgets support looks nice though - would love to get that working on my desktop so will keep an eye out.

If you continue to get annoyed with Vista you should give ubuntu a try.
